...immediate environment the same as before. The quicker he feels settled in a routine (as close as possible to that prior to the injury), the quicker his mental status may improve.
Hydration is important as already stated. We used to get folks from the nursing home who had suddenly tipped over and we would tank 'em up, give them some antibiotics for their inevitable UTI, and try like hell to avoid admission...send 'em back to where they were comfortably oriented.
An inpatient stay was to be avoided at all costs.
